What to take on your Caravan Holiday

20 Mar 2020

Your newspapers and milk delivery have been cancelled, your neighbours have been informed and you’re about to head to your Country Retreat for a few days of well-earned peace and relaxation – but what to take with you to make sure you have a stress free caravan holiday? Maguires Country Parks to the rescue with our latest blog entry!

What to take on your Caravan Holiday

As The Caravan Club say – two things that can ruin a holiday are bad weather and a missing tin opener. One you can’t do anything about – the other you certainly can. With that in mind, we have put together a list of things to take with you to ensure that your caravan holiday goes as smoothly as possible!

Kitchen and Bathroom Essentials

Washing up liquid, toilet roll and bin bags are all worth popping in your suitcase as well as your favourite bathroom items – shampoo, shower gel, shaving foam, toothbrush and toothpaste and any other items you may need to get yourself spruced up to your holiday best!

Food Essentials

You may decide to eat out – either at the Prince William Bar & Restaurant at Forget Me Not or Maguires Bar & Grill at Ord House – or at the various restaurants and eateries in the local area of which we will be happy to advise. If not and you want to create something in your kitchen, it is handy to bring a few things that you rely on at home. Herbs and spices, olive oil, teabags, coffee, milk and sugar to name a few. Don’t fear though, as all of our Country Parks do have shops nearby where you can stock up on anything you may have forgotten.

Linen

It is a good idea to bring extra towels with you – particularly if you are staying at Newbus Grange Country Park and fancy a dip in our outdoor heated swimming pool!

Clothing

As well as packing your swimming trunks if you are stopping at Newbus Grange, some extra footwear for walking as well as a waterproof coat are a good idea for all of our parks as they are set in the Countryside with lots of opportunities for walking. Washing powder is another item to add to your list as we have washing and drying facilities at our parks to keep all of your things in tip top condition.

Recreation

The clubhouses at Ord House and Forget Me Not have a busy calendar of events throughout the year, from bingo and quiz nights to live music and comedy. That said, it’s always worth packing a few things for a quite evening in or – heaven forbid – a rainy day. Playing cards, board games and toys if you have children are all worth taking with you, as well as books and some CDs or an ipod, if you like to listen to music. And, unless you want to switch off completely from the real world, you’ll want to bring your chargers for any electronic devices!

For daytime activities a pair of binoculars, a camera, maps/walking guides and a compass can also come in handy. Our Country Parks are set in some of the most beautiful countryside in North East England with terrific walks to enjoy and wildlife to see.

Other Handy Items

A torch, sun lotion and a first aid kit with headache tablets, plasters and antiseptic cream are all handy items to have. And of course – a tin opener!

Enjoy your caravan holiday,

The Maguire Family.
